Mr. Ramirez spent the majority of his career at National City Corporation (NCC) where he was EVP responsible for corporate strategy, corporate development, and asset/liability management. In addition, he managed divestitures, loan portfolio sales, expense reductions, and balance sheet restructurings. Mr. Ramirez executed a variety of transactions involving bank and non-bank financial institutions. On large, multi-bank holding company acquisitions, he played the role of integration coordinator. Mr. Ramirez joined NCC as controller of its bank subsidiary in Northwest Ohio. He was also CFO and COO of W Holding Company, a $17 billion, publicly traded, Puerto Rico bank holding company.
In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of NPC, a large merchant processing company that was listed on the NYSE. Mr. Ramirez also held finance and operations positions at Bank of Boston Corporation and Citibank. Most recently, he worked on private equity projects, evaluating investment opportunities in small to mid-sized banks primarily in Florida and Puerto Rico. Mr. Ramirez earned a BA from the Universidad Pedagogica, a Masters of Accountancy from Bowling Green State University, and an MBA from Bowling Green State University.
